Three-Ingredient Caramel Dip

Three-Ingredient Caramel Dip

As the holiday season approaches, you might be looking for healthier alternatives to some of your favorite sweet treats. Allison, our Sustainability Manager, and Kristina, our Registered Dietitian, have crafted a wonderfully simple three-ingredient caramel apple dip. This recipe is designed to be easy to follow, even for those who may not consider themselves kitchen experts. With just three simple ingredients—sun butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract—you can create a delicious dip.

Did you know that just two tablespoons of sun butter contain 8 grams of protein, 2 grams of fiber, and 2 grams of iron? Additionally, maple syrup is a good source of manganese, which is essential for health, wound healing, and blood clotting. These ingredients not only make a tasty caramel dip but also provide a nutritional boost, empowering you to make healthier food choices.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup sun butter
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan over low heat.
  2. Keep an eye on the mixture; in about 2-3 minutes, a creamy, silky caramel sauce should start to form.
  3. Remove from heat and transfer the caramel to a ceramic bowl. As it cools, it will thicken, and is ready to enjoy!

How can you enjoy this caramel dip?

  • By the spoonful!
  • Drizzled over apples. (Also known as apple nachos)
  • Paired with a bowl of ice cream.
  • Mixed into yogurt.
  • Drizzled on banana bread or muffins.
  • However you like!
