Street Food Carnival Extravaganza

Street Food Carnival “Wow Event”

As students entered the Farm Table and Kosher Table at Sherman on Thursday, March 7th, they were wowed by the extravagant “Wow Event” we had in store for them. The theme this semester was a take on a delicious street food carnival. The ambiance was set with string lights cascading down from the ceilings, face painters, a photo booth to capture the memories, and games with various prizes.  

The dining hall was bustling with activity as guests made their way to the various street food stations. The variety of dishes available was impressive, with something for everyone. From juicy and tender smoked turkey legs and BBQ chicken skewers to flavorful vegetable chimichangas, crispy and flavorful corn dogs, and handmade sushi, every dish was carefully prepared and presented.   

The dessert station had an array of sweet and savory treats that were hard to resist. The hot apple and blueberry turnovers were a popular choice, as were the fried Oreos and fried dough. Guests could also indulge in an ice cream bar featuring chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors from our local partner, Bliss Creamery, located 37.3 miles away in Attleboro, Massachusetts. The ice cream could be customized with toppings such as sprinkles, whipped cream, hot fudge, caramel, or strawberry sauce.

Aside from the delicious food, there was a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy. We provided games, face painting, a photo booth, and an array of exciting prizes to be won. The prizes included a variety of stuffed animals, water bottles, sunglasses, t-shirts, and tote bags.   

To win a prize, you had to participate in our ring toss game. You were given three chances to toss a big plastic coin into one of the small bowls arranged in front of you. Each bowl had a different color, and the prize you won depended on the color of the bowl you landed in. The game brought a lot of fun to the street food carnival, and everyone was eager to win.   

Another popular attraction of the night was face painting. Guests were given the option to choose from a wide range of designs including flowers, rainbows, spiders, cheetah and tiger prints, monsters, and much more. It was a big hit; people of all ages were lining up to get their faces painted. 

The photo booth was another highlight of the night, and guests had a blast taking photos with their friends. The booth was equipped with a variety of fun props; everyone was encouraged to let loose and have fun.

Overall, the event was a huge success, and everyone had a blast. The food was delicious, the activities were fun, and the atmosphere was vibrant and lively. It was truly a fantastic night that has created much anticipation for the next event.
